A personal finance concept that brings banking, payments, investing, and crypto into one app. I handled the full project, from research through high-fidelity design.
AI Summary
The Brief
Most people manage money across several apps, including a bank, brokerage, crypto wallet, and payment service. Each has its own navigation and rules. I created Hive to explore how those tools could fit into one platform without making money management feel more complicated. I scoped the concept as a phased roadmap, prioritizing core financial tasks before advanced investing and crypto flows.
Hive app: portfolio overview, transaction history, and account management
Context
The fragmentation problem in personal finance is real. Research with users consistently surfaced three frustrations: too many apps to juggle, navigation that assumed you were a financial professional, and security concerns that made people hesitant to trust any single platform with everything. The anxiety of managing money across disconnected tools was a consistent theme.
Combining the features was only useful if the result felt simpler and more trustworthy than the existing setup. Otherwise, one overloaded app would be worse than five focused ones.
Product Design
Hive brings banking, payments, investing, and crypto into a focused interface. I designed the navigation for people who may not already be comfortable with finance apps. Transactions, balances, and portfolio performance are all visible from one view.
The brand uses clear data displays and visible security cues to build trust without relying on scare tactics. Its visual style feels current and capable, but not intimidating.
Step 01
I interviewed users and compared banking, brokerage, payment, and crypto apps. I synthesized the recurring issues—app clutter, confusing navigation, and security anxiety—into a clear problem statement and product requirements.
Step 02
I defined three product principles—simplicity, accessibility, and trust—then mapped the information architecture and critical flows. A phased roadmap kept everyday banking and payments ahead of more complex investing and crypto features.
Step 03
I moved from low-fidelity wireframes to interactive prototypes and tested the highest-risk journeys: account setup, money movement, and portfolio review. Feedback drove iterations to navigation, terminology, and the visibility of security cues.
Step 04
I developed the Hive identity, accessible color and type system, and a high-fidelity component library. The final concept includes complete priority flows, responsive states, and documented patterns ready to guide implementation.
Although Hive is a concept, I took it through the same process I would use for a live product. User research shaped the architecture, interface, and brand. The finished system shows how a broad set of financial tools can still feel direct and manageable.
